Frequently asked questions
What does a scan actually do?
Sigila opens your page in a real Chrome browser, twice: at a desktop size (1366×900) and at a phone size (390×844). It waits a moment, closes the cookie banner the way a visitor would, scrolls through the page, and then runs axe-core, the most widely used automated accessibility checker, against WCAG 2.1 levels A and AA. Every failing element is stored with its selector, HTML and position, and circled on a screenshot of your actual page. axe's best-practice recommendations, which WCAG does not require, are listed separately for developers and are not circled.
Why are the same failures circled on a picture?
Because a list of rule names is hard to act on. Seeing that the circled element is the hero image without alternative text, or that the low-contrast text is the price in your product card, tells you where to look and who should fix it.
Is a clean result a compliance certificate?
No. Automated checks cover roughly a third of WCAG 2.1 AA. This is honest guidance, not a compliance certificate. Automated checks cannot judge meaning, reading order for screen readers, or keyboard comfort. A clean result means the automated checks found nothing; a manual review is still needed for a compliance claim.
What do the six lenses show?
The paid report shows every page through six simulations built into Chrome: deuteranopia, protanopia and tritanopia (three kinds of colour-blindness), achromatopsia (no colour vision), blurred vision and reduced contrast. They don't produce findings; they let you see your page roughly the way those visitors do, with a before/after slider.
What is included in the free scan?
One page — the address you enter — with the circled screenshot and a list of rules, severities and counts, in both desktop and phone view. One free scan per domain per 24 hours. It does not show which elements fail or how to fix them.
Can I come back to a free result later?
Yes. Every free result has its own address (getsigila.com/?scan=…) that works for 30 days, and the result page can email that link to you. After 30 days the result is deleted.
What does the paid plan cost and include?
45 € per month, VAT included. Up to 50 pages of your site (found from your sitemap and internal links), every failing element with its HTML, colours and fix instructions, the six lenses with a before/after slider, and a re-scan every Monday with an email that says what changed: likely fixed, likely new, unchanged. You can cancel any time from your report page (Manage subscription); the subscription runs to the end of the paid month.
Can I subscribe as a private person?
The paid plan is sold to businesses, public bodies and other organisations; by subscribing you confirm you act for one, and checkout asks for the organisation's name. If a consumer subscribes anyway, we cancel the subscription and refund the payment. The free scan is open to anyone.
Why does the weekly email say “likely” fixed?
Because a page can change in ways an automated check cannot tell apart from a fix — an element can be removed, moved, or renamed. Sigila compares each page view with the previous week's by rule and element selector; a match that disappears is reported as likely fixed, a new one as likely new. Pages that were new, missing, blocked or failed that week are not compared, and are never counted as fixed.
The scan says my site's bot protection blocked it. What now?
Some sites (Cloudflare, Azure WAF, Akamai and others) show automated visitors a challenge page instead of the site. Sigila detects that and never reports it as a clean result. Add 94.237.112.217 to your allowlist so weekly scans see the same page your visitors do. Our scanner identifies itself as a normal Chrome browser and does not try to evade bot protection.
Does Sigila change anything on my site, or store my visitors' data?
No. Sigila only loads your public pages, like a visitor with a browser. It stores screenshots of your pages, the failing elements' HTML and technical details about the page load. It never logs in, submits forms or reads your visitors' data. See the privacy page for what we store about you as a customer.
Which pages does the paid plan scan?
The address you gave at checkout, then pages listed in your sitemap.xml and pages linked from the pages already scanned, on the same site only, up to 50 pages, no duplicates. Files such as PDFs and images are skipped.
