Terms of service

Version 1.1 · in force from 21 September 2026. These terms apply to the Sigila service at getsigila.com. The paid plan is sold to businesses, public bodies and other organisations only.

1. Who provides the service

Sigila is provided by Sanni Pauliina Härkönen, a sole trader established in Finland, Business ID 3518859-2, VAT number FI35188592, Heikinpohjantie 23 as. 4, 57100 Savonlinna, Finland ("we"). Contact: support@getsigila.com or the support form.

2. What the service is

Sigila runs automated accessibility checks on public web pages you name, and shows the results as circled screenshots, lists and simulated views. Automated checks cover roughly a third of WCAG 2.1 AA, and they can both miss real problems and flag things that are not problems. This is honest guidance, not a compliance certificate. The service does not constitute legal advice, an audit, or a statement of compliance with any law or standard.

The paid plan is sold to businesses, public bodies and other organisations only; by subscribing you confirm that you act in the course of a trade, business or profession, not as a consumer, and that you are authorised to act for the organisation you name. The paid plan is not available to consumers; if a consumer subscribes despite this, we cancel the subscription and refund the payment in full.

3. Free scans

Free scans are limited to one page per domain per 24 hours and may be changed or withdrawn at any time. You may only scan sites you own or are allowed to test. Screenshots are made only for the report and are not published or reused.

4. Subscription, price and payment

You subscribe by choosing the plan, entering your organisation's details, accepting these terms and paying in Stripe Checkout; you can correct your details until you confirm the payment. The agreement is made when the payment is confirmed, and we confirm it by email. We keep a record of the version of the terms you accepted and send it to you on request. The agreement is made in English.

The paid plan costs 45 € per month, billed monthly in advance, or 450 € per year, billed yearly in advance, through Stripe; you choose the billing period when you subscribe. The price includes VAT wherever we have to charge it; the rate and amount are shown at checkout and on your invoice. If you are a business in another EU country and give a valid VAT number, the invoice is issued without VAT under the reverse-charge rule and you account for the VAT yourself; the price is still 45 € or 450 €. If a payment fails, Stripe tries again; if it still fails, the subscription ends.

Prices may change with 30 days' notice by email; a change applies from your next billing period, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

5. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time from your report page (Manage subscription), or through the support form; the subscription ends at the end of the paid period (month or year) and is not renewed. Fees for the current period are not refunded, except that if we discontinue the service during a paid period, we refund the unused part.

6. Your responsibilities

You confirm that you are entitled to have the named site scanned, and that scanning it does not breach any agreement or law. You may not use the service to burden or attack a site, to get around the limits of the service, or to resell it without our written consent. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in email address secure.

If a third party makes a claim against us because you had a site scanned without the right to do so, you compensate us for the damage and the reasonable costs that follow.

7. Availability and changes to the service

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, and scans can fail or be blocked by the scanned site. We may change or improve the service; material reductions are announced by email 30 days in advance, and you can cancel before they take effect.

8. Suspension and ending by us

We may suspend your access without notice if you use the service against these terms, if a scan you ordered harms a site or a third party, or if a payment has failed. We may end your subscription with 30 days' notice by email, and immediately if you materially breach these terms. If we end it for a reason other than your breach, we refund the unused part of the paid month.

9. Rights to the service and the reports

The service, its software and texts, and the Sigila name and logo belong to us. While your subscription is active you may use the service for the sites you are entitled to have scanned. The reports are yours to use, copy and share freely, for example with your developers or a supervisory authority. Your site and its content remain yours; you allow us to load, screenshot and analyse it only to provide the service.

10. Liability

We are liable for direct damage caused by our negligence, up to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the event. We are not liable for indirect damage, such as lost profit or revenue, interrupted business or compensation you owe to others, or for any consequence of relying on scan results as a statement of compliance. We are not liable for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as network, hosting or payment-provider outages.

These limits do not apply to damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, or where the law does not allow liability to be limited. Claims must be made in writing within six months of when you noticed, or should have noticed, the damage.

11. Data

How we handle personal data is described on the privacy page. Screenshots and findings of your site are kept while your subscription is active and for 90 days after it ends, and are then deleted. During that time you can download your findings as CSV or JSON files from the report page, or ask us for them through the support form, at no charge. Statistics we publish come from our own research scans of public sites, never from your scans.

12. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. We tell you by email at least 30 days before a change takes effect; a change that the law requires, or that is only to your benefit, can take effect sooner. If you do not accept a change, you can cancel before it takes effect; using the service after that date means you accept it. Earlier versions are available on request.

13. Transfer of the agreement

We may transfer this agreement, together with the data needed to perform it, to a company that continues the Sigila business, for example if the business is incorporated or sold; we tell you by email beforehand. You may not transfer your subscription without our consent.

14. Other terms

We write to the email address of your account; you write through the support form or to support@getsigila.com. These terms and the information given at checkout are the whole agreement on the service. If a part of these terms is found invalid, the rest stays in force. The English text is the binding version. Nothing in these terms limits the rights that mandatory law gives a consumer who uses the free scan.

15. Governing law and disputes

Finnish law applies, without its choice-of-law rules. We first try to settle a dispute by talking. Failing that, disputes are handled by the District Court of South Savo (Etelä-Savon käräjäoikeus) as the court of first instance; this choice of court binds our business customers (Regulation (EU) 1215/2012, art. 25).
